Downing Collection

I know you have seen old news snips or movies where the gals arrive in busses in Washington, DC during the war to man up the typewriters and such. Type, type type, ding, rip, stuff, toss... Yes, that was life in DC way back when. Below find Mr. Downing's official discharge papers. We have nothing like this on the DE357.com website. It is the final act in the military career of Mr. Downing and perhaps a teensy window into the typing pool in DC.
Yes, there are two sets of discharge papers. It seems we have a bit of a mystery that can't be solved at this time. We believe he re-upped for the inactive reserves. The top set is obviously what all the crew received at the final trumpet's toot.
