Fantail onboard the Davis, Destroyer Escort DE357.  This photo, always interesting because it is natural, catches some of the crew in a bit of repose. Trout is grinning. Some of the other guys look like they might like to be ugly with the photographer. The crew of the Davis were men of goodwill… but deadly when aroused. They exhibited the proper naval attitude.

Leyte aka Leyte Gulf    This photo type, seen in all wars that Americans participate, is unique in history. The men of the George E Davis, DE-357 were good, honorable, and decent men, placed in harms way, but retaining their humanity. The Japanese of that time operated under different rules.
